ICC Cricket World Cup2011-Canada Vs Kenya(Live Streaming)

"Win provides us the right impetus"

After taking Canada to their second ICC CWC win ever, skipper Ashish Bagai feels that the victory against Kenya will give them the right impetus

Chasing 199 for victory, Canada were led by fine half-centuries from skipper Ashish Bagai and Jimmy Hansra as they coasted home with five wickets to spare, registering their first win in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 at Feroz Shah Kotla on Monday.

The win brought smiles to the Canada camp as skipper Ashish Bagai received the loudest cheer from the Kotla crowd because of his obvious Indian connection.

“It was indeed a special win for us as it came in front of the Delhi crowd which wanted us to do well. It was great, I was there for the first one in 2003, and am here for this one so pretty happy to get the win.Hopefully, we can use this game to spark us for the next two games,” an elated Bagai said after the match.

Canada skipper also believes that the win will be a perfect tonic for the boys and will instill a self-belief in the team.

“We all practiced hard as a unit so it was important to get a win under our belt. Glad we won this. This gives us just the impetus we needed. Hopefully, the win will inspire us in the future,” Canada skipper added.

Bagai also heaped praise on his bowlers and thanked them for giving Canada early breakthrough in the match.

“It’s definitely a part of the goal that we want to achieve. We had a disappointing batting display against Zimbabwe and Pakistan, we had a chance of getting a win over Pakistan but we are living in the present. Henry (Osinde) did a fantastic job first up. Kenya were upset by early blows that Osinde gave and that meant a lot.

“The score under 200 meant that we were fortunate enough to have no run-rate pressure; four runs an over on that wicket would always be gettable if you spend some time. Moreover, I had my entire family present. My grandparents, my parents, cousins and about fifty people cheering us up. It was good to have them,” Bagai signed off with a winning smile
