Windies score despite losing Bravo

New Delhi: Chris Gayle continued his attacking-style of play and thrashed the Dutch bowlers to all corners of the ground in their Group B encounter at the Feroz Shah Kotla, in Delhi on Monday.

Earlier, Gayle shared a century stand with his opening partner Devon Smith (53 off 51) before the latter got out to medium pacer Bernard Loots. The lanky left hander then put on a 68-run stand with Darren Bravo, who fell after scoring 30 off 38 balls.

Other than Bernard, slow left arm bowler Pieter Seelaar also chipped in with a wicket for the Netherlands.

The two Caribbean openers got their team off to a cautious but solid start after being put into bat by the Dutch.

Injury-ravaged West Indies will have plenty to play for as they have lost the first match against South Africa.

On the other hand Netherlands will come out all guns blazing after their terrific performance against England and they will be hoping for an upset win.

For West Indies Nikita Miller comes in for injured Dwayne Bravo and on the other hand Netherlands have gone with the same team that lost too England.
